About Us
Gail and I have been interested in opening an art gallery for many years, not only as a business venture, but also as a way to share our love of art. Our idea of emphasizing contemporary Russian and older European art is two-fold. First, we believe we can offer art of a very high quality at a competitive price point, and second, make it readily available to the public. The variety of art we offer is usually only found in major art markets, such as London, New York, or Santa Fe. Many of our artists are represented in European and Russian museums.
Our definition of contemporary is art created in the present time, and perhaps, representative. I would not deem it to be modern art, although some of the pieces tend to a more expressionistic or impressionistic style. Most of our older European pieces come from Denmark and were created in the early part of the last century. Many of our Russian pieces come from artists associated with the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, either as professors, students or former students. The Academy has a long history of rigorous training which leads to very accomplished artists. Although our main emphasis is on Russian and older European works of art, we also exhibit pieces that represent contemporary American art, and some contemporary European art. We showcase the works of Eric Wallis, Julie Ford Oliver, and Lindy Bridgers.
We have enjoyed visitors from the UK, France, and across the United States. We have clients from as far away as New York and Washington, as well as from our own community.
Our hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During Farmers’ Market we are open on Wednesdays 8:00 am- 4:00 p.m., and on Saturdays 8:00am – 2:00 p.m. Additionally, we will arrange hours by appointment if the need arises.
